Atla Blog Editorial Policy & Submission Guidelines

Atla Blog Editorial Policy 

The Atla blog seeks submissions from our member libraries and affiliated organizations about professional development opportunities, upcoming events, and other exciting news and trends in the fields of librarianship and of religion and theology. Depending on the type of content being submitted — whether meeting notes, announcements, academic articles, or reflections–we have compiled a list of general guidelines that will help you format your article. 

Submissions will be reviewed by Atla’s Member Programs staff for appropriateness to the purpose of the Atla blog as well as the support of Atla’s core values of hospitality, inclusion, and diversity. Submissions that do not further Atla’s mission may not be accepted or may be returned to the author for further development or refinement. Additionally, Atla staff reserve the right to edit submissions for any errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 

Atla does not tolerate plagiarism, copyright infringement, inaccurate attributions, failure to disclose conflicts of interest, or libel. Original content will check for plagiarism through iThenticate. Concerns regarding observed plagiarism or misconduct in any Atla publication should be directed to our Contact Form.

Formatting Guidelines 

Content

  • Word count is 250-1,500 words (depending on content type)
  • Send preferred headline (we will try our best to use it)
  • Byline (please include your title and affiliation)
  • Style Guide: Chicago Manual of Style
  • Endnotes are okay
  • Hyperlinks appreciated

Images

  • JPG, PNG, or GIF
  • 72-150 DPI (2MB or less)
  • At least 200 x 200 pixels

Images must either be your own, licensed for use (e.g., Creative Commons), used with permission of the rightsholder, or otherwise be free of copyright or other restrictions against reuse. Attribution for all images must be included in the text of your submission.
