Part-Time Instruction and Reference Librarian

Purpose and Function

Supports library research and instructional programs through the application of information literacy standards, educational technologies, and ongoing assessment efforts.

Responsibilities

• Provides a full range of reference and research services for students via email, phone, Zoom/Teams, and in person.
• Prepare and present library research instruction sessions in both individual and group settings.
• Develops informational and instructional materials in print and digital formats.
• Contributes to ongoing library assessment planning and implementation.
• Participates in library-wide activities and other projects.
• Supervises student assistants.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• ALA-accredited MLS degree or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Experience in instruction and teaching.
• Knowledge of the use of relevant print and electronic information resources.
• Two years of experience in an academic library.
• Commitment to providing responsive and innovative services to a broad patron base.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Reference and instruction experience in an academic library.
• Knowledge of library platform management systems.
• Academic course work in theology.
• Familiarity with Roman Catholicism and Christianity.
