Announcing Additions to Atla Products – June, July & August 2020

Chicago, IL, August 26, 2020 – Atla is pleased to announce the addition of titles now available in Atla Religion Database® (Atla RDB® ), AtlaSerials® (Atlas® ), and AtlaSerials PLUS® (Atlas PLUS® ). Additionally, Atla’s partner product New Testament Abstracts (NTA) has received its annual content update. You can view the updated title list here. All facts and figures pertaining to NTA on the Atla site have been updated as well.

Diversifying our Inclusion & Collaboration
The Atla team is continually working hard to diversify its inclusion and collaboration with our content, members, scholars, and partners around the world. The recent additions of titles to our research tools offer more content diversity with a variety of academic disciplines, geographic sources, content platforms, and linguistic capabilities.
Korean Language
We are continuing our expansion of Korean language content with 기독교교육논총 [Journal of Christian Education in Korea] by 한국기독교교육학회[The Korean Society of Christian Religious Education] in Atlas PLUS, which endeavors to enhance scholarly research, professional development, and situational practice in the various fields of Christian Education. The Korean Society of Christian Religious Education has served as a focal point for those seeking to improve theological and educational research and practice in South Korea since 1961. Additionally, 가톨릭신학 by 한국가톨릭신학학회 [Catholic Theological Association of Korea] is in Atla Religion Database.
Catholicism
In addition to the title above, 가톨릭신학 by 한국가톨릭신학학회 from Catholic Theological Association of Korea, three additional titles supplement our Catholic offerings. From Alt-Katholischen Seminars der Universität Bonn, Alt-Katholische und Ökumenische Theologie covers Catholic theology, with content primarily in German. Vox Patrum by the Institute of History of the Church and Patrology, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin covers patristic life in Poland and globally. It is published in Polish. American Ecclesiastical Review by Catholic University of America Press is currently being indexed in Atla Religion Database, and the full text is also live in Atlas PLUS.
From Europe, another full-text addition to Atla PLUS comes from Brill in Journal of Jesuit Studies, a journal dedicated to the study of Jesuit history from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century, through multiple lenses, including, but not limited to: the Jesuit role in the arts and sciences, theology, philosophy, mission, literature, and interreligious/inter-cultural encounters.
Islam & Islamic Thought

ReadOver the past several months, the Atla team has worked to include several new titles on Islam and Islamic thought. Al-Idah by the Shaykh Zayed Islamic Center at the University of Peshawar discusses an array of contemporary issues on the local, national, and international level from a moderate and peace-loving perspective of Islam. This journal includes content in English, Arabic, and Urdu.
From the International Institute of Islamic Thought, Al-Fikr al-islāmī al-muʿāṣir offers an open platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas to help facilitate methodological reform in Muslim thought; promote awareness, research, and education in Muslim societies; and formulate critical academic methodologies, tools, and policies that support and drive the revision and investment of Islamic knowledge. This journal is published in Arabic.
From long-standing partner Brill, Sociology of Islam discusses international research related to the religion and culture of Islam, Muslim societies, and social issues related to Muslims in a socio-political context.
Atla’s first full-text title from Malaysia comes with Afkār: Jurnal Akidah Pemikiran Islam by Akademi Pengajian Islam, Universiti Malaya, which covers Aqidah and Islamic thought in the Malay World. Journal content is published in Malay, English, and Arabic.
From Turkey, Tahkik Journal of Critical Editions of Islamic Manuscripts publishes manuscripts on the criticism and reinterpretation of the scientific contributions made throughout the history of Islamic sciences. Content is published in Turkish, Arabic, and English.
Buddhism
Additionally, we continue our expansion of language and scope by welcoming The Journal of the Korean Association for Buddhist Studies to the Atla Religion Database. This journal discusses Buddhism both in the Korean context and globally and publishes content in Korean and English.
玄奘佛學研究 [Xuanzang Buddhist Studies Journal] is an open access Mandarin-language journal from 玄奘大學 [Hsuan Chuang University] in Taiwan that discusses Buddhism around the world, both historical and contemporary, from historical, political, social, and cultural perspectives.
Jewish Thought
From our longstanding publishing partner, Oxford University Press, Modern Judaism: A Journal of Jewish Ideas and Experience discusses the distinctive, interdisciplinary facets of the modern Jewish experience, focusing on topics pertinent to the understanding of Jewish life today and the forces that have shaped that experience throughout history.

Eastern Europe, Medieval History, and Orthodox Studies
In Atla Religion Database, from Russia, Religion. Church. Society. is a Russian and English language journal discussing Lutheran theology and philosophy through the lens of Medieval history.
Journal of the International Society for Orthodox Church Music from the International Society for Orthodox Church Music is an open access journal from Finland that discusses aspects of Orthodox church music, including history, theory, performance practice, source studies, and cultural and theological aspects. Content is published in Russian and English.
Additionally, the Journal of Orthodox Christian Studies by Johns Hopkins University Press discusses all aspects of the thought, history, society, politics, theology, and culture of Orthodox Christianity.
Ministry and Worship
Previously published by the International Association for the Study of Youth Ministry, the Journal of Youth and Theology is now published by Brill and aims to further the academic study, research, teaching, and training of youth ministry. Doxology: a Journal of Worship shares academic and pastoral conversations on church liturgy, worship, and music.
Interdisciplinary and Intercultural
From the United States, in Atla Religion Database, Christian Journal for Global Health discusses global health issues from a diverse intercultural and inter-denominational Christian perspective.
Additionally, Socio-Historical Examination of Religion and Ministry (SHERM) from Wipf and Stock Publishers is an interdisciplinary open access journal that produces critical and scholarly inquiry of historical and contemporary religious phenomena, as well as experimental and applied ministry research with the ultimate aim of generating enthusiasm for the vocational and academic study of religion.
Indexing Essay Collections
As we previewed earlier this year, the Atla team has been diligently working to expand its indexing of essay collections. Working with our publishing partners, users, and scholars to locate and index essay collections allow us to feature metadata for hard-to-find content for all our users.
